1.) Here's the minor fixes made by the developer al13326 on several maps that he've done a few months ago.

To Install: Extract the .7z file and copy all the 'mapname'_001.rfa in levels folder (i.e. ../EA GAMES/Battlefield 1942/Mods/bg42/Archives/bf1942/levels/): Download

4005-battle_of_arras_001
- Changed position and rotation values of Plane_Spawner on both sides in ObjectSpawns.con to prevent either of them hitting the trees during takeoff, also changed the Stud_Farm_Spawn4's X position in SinglePlayer's SoldierSpawns.con.
4006-dunkirk_perimeter_001
- Correcting typo on Pak_Spawner's "ObjectTemplate.setObjectTemplate 2" to 2pounder and adjustment of rotation for both Spitfire Mk I and Defiant as both British aircraft were hitting the trees during take-off.
4006-ligne_alpine_001
- Adjustment of spawnpoint rotation on each sides' aircraft.
4105-operation_mercury_001
- Changed game.setServerInfoIcon to "serverBGeurope.tga" as Crete was located in Europe.
4112-flying_tigers_001
- Adjustment of spawnpoint rotation for both P-40F and P-38 in Co-op to prevent the AI/bots hitting the hilly terrain (P-40) and trees (P-38F) during take-off.
- Removed land vehicles assigned in "ObjectTemplate.create ObjectSpawner Ambulance_Spawner" in Co-op to prevent AI/bots to occupy the vehicle and blocked the airfield.
4208-kaukasus_001
- Changing spawnpont and rotation for both German aircraft in Co-op to prevent hitting the trees or flying straight toward the hill.
4208-operation_herkules_001
- Adjustment of spawnpoint rotation for Gloster Gladiator to prevent it from hitting the rails during take-off.
4406-defense_of_hengyang_001
- Added line "textureManager.alternativePath Texture/Russia" to fixed incorrect texture of Chinese sFH 18.
4407-narva_bridgehead_001
- Replacing Manufacture CP's Flak_Spawner to Pak_Spawner to prevent glitching of 37mm61-K's wheels on river wall should the Soviets capture that control point, and changing Truck_Spawner's (near Bf 109G) absolute position and rotation X values to 253.92 and 88.00 respectively to eliminate the "shaking" of towed sFH 18 in Conquest mode.
4503-autobahn_001
- Moving the audio position of axisradio to grammophon_m1.
4505-yontan_airfield_001
- Fixed some minor typo error on "game.setMultiplayerBriefingObjectives" inside Menu/Init.con.

3.) Well the developer and player 2-285 know it plays no role anymore as the model of Sherman Firefly was already replaced anyway but 2-285 still curious. During the earlier versions of BG42 a Sherman Firefly classified as

 

was used. According to the British classification system a Sherman IIIC is therefore a M4A2 Sherman armed with a 17pdr Gun. So far as good but according to my own research there wasn't any Sherman IIIC or at least only in very small quantities. I've found a picture of a Sherman Firefly which looks similar from the markings and the camouflage colour to the old BG42 model



but according to the Tank Encyclopedia source it's a Sherman V so a M4A4 armed with 17pdr Gun like the current Sherman Firefly model in BG42. My question therefore is the following: Was it already planned from the beginning to implement a Sherman Firefly IIIC or was it a simple write error, does maybe a Sherman Firefly IC was meant in reality? Or was it simply a stopgap because no other appropriate Firefly model was available at this time?

Battlegroup42 HD map conversions for RC4 patch 1


Cudman just now upgraded to Battlegroup42  RC4 patch 1 and he took the time to update his HD map mods of his favourite maps. He created these for his own purposes mostly doing dogfights and the occasional run in VR (with VorpX and DGvoodo2) so as he thought that there may be others not knowing how to change the maps please find them here to try out. Just drop these RFA files into the "Battlefield 1942/mods/bg42/Archives/bf1942/levels" folder.

NOTE: These files does not replace anything, just changes the settings of the maps as they load after the map has loaded. To remove just search for all the files ending with *_069.rfa and remove.
To make such changes yourself just use winRFA v2.05 programm which is easily found by your seaching machine at your Webbrowser. Open the map RFA file, save it to a work folder and select the init.com and terrain/init.com files and use Notepad to make the changes. Furthermore the content creator Cudman suggest you load in one of his map files first, extract his changed files and look at all the "rem" change remarks He've made to see what he changed.

FHSW 0.611 released!



FHSW 0.611 released!


FHSW 0.611 has been released with the main goal of fixing a lot of bugs. The addition of new equipment is planned but for now bug fixing is the top priority.

How to install?  


Although the number of changes is quite small FHSW 0.611 is a full install to avoid confusion. If you’re new to FHSW please follow the instructions of this: click here.

I’ve tried to translate most of the changes from the Japanese dev blog, I can’t guarantee that everything is correct. The source is linked at the bottom of this news.

General

  • fixed a bug which sometimes caused the game to crash when selecting the 7th weapon slot
  • fixed wrong trajectory of some guns
  • fixed an issue where armor-piercing bullets played sound effects
  • fixed the drawing distance of torpedo boats
  • disabled fly-by camera (F12) for soldiers which was added by accident
  • Molotov cocktail throwing settings set to same as regular grenade
  • TNT detonator can now again be activated by right-clicking, explosion effect changed
  • fixed wrong damage calculation when ship ladders were hit
  • fixed wrong kill log messages
  • several maps received updates to fix minor bugs, improve balance and stability

United States

  • Sextuple Bofors: fixed network related issue
  • P-47D: fixed position of left aileron
  • M2 105mm howitzer: fixed network related issue
  • T29 tank: code adjusted so that the tank‘s turret orientation can now be seen from further away

Germany

  • Fa 223 "Drache": fixed an issue which could destroy the vehicle when firing, ammo refill now also possible

Japan

  • Yokosuka D4Y: high altitude performance reduced
  • Musashi: speed reduced
  • Kii/Owari: speed reduced, fixed a bug which could damage the ship when firing
  • some infantry-related models and textures have been updated

Soviet Union

  • added Yak-9UT: armed with two 20mm and one 37mm machine gun, compared tot he Yak-9T it’s more agile and more effective against ground targets
  • KV2: added missing angled armor effect
  • SU-122: fixed an issue where grenades were being fired from the wrong position

France

  • AMX-13: fixed minimap icon

Finland

  • fixed a bug where sound wasn’t played when sending a radio command
